Green Apple Oil Painting

This is another one done from life. I was looking to make the apple look as 3D as possible and I thought the best way to do this was to paint with complimentary colors along with a strong contrast between the darks and lights.

  1. it certainly gives a 3-D image. I always thought that red tended to project forward but the red you have used (towards a magenta, at least on my screen)does recede quite nicely. this leaves the bright green (yellowish tint?)and the darker shadow to really shape the apple. Nice one! - John
